Poor Fishy!

We love having a tropical fish aquarium even with all the maintenance, vacuuming, etc. Jadeyn's 5th word (and favorite word) was fish! Actually "shish." Well, we got back from our camping trip to a sad surprise. Three of our Rosy Barbs had something wrong with them. Their mouths were all swollen and red, kind of, well, really gross looking. By the next day their skin was white and coming off. Eeww! Cottonmouth disease. So treatment time. (Don't laugh at the pictures. Try taking a picture of a moving fish in a tank! Its really tough! But you can zoom in and see the poor things better).

The anti-fungal medication said that is could lightly tint the tank water: our tank is currently emerald green! That's not a light tint!

48 hours later we start the water changes. I'm filling up the garbage can with pails of water and Jadeyn got so excited. He started searching the room and came running up with a racquetball container and wanted to help! We let him scoop up his little bit of water and walk with us to the bathtub to dump it. He was so proud and happy that he could help out his "shish!"

Redstone and Marble, CO

We went on a great camping trip this weekend near Redstone and Marble, CO. It was absolutely breathtaking: wildflowers in bloom, magnificent and green the mountains, lovely thunder and rainstorms :), great food, and one adorable and happy little boy. The fishing wasn't that great, bummer, but the hiking and time around camp was wonderful.

We visited Marble, CO. Huge blocks of pure white marble lined the mountain road up to the mine. The stone was beautiful: pure white. Amazing to think that this could come out of the ground.

The clouds remained low throughout the whole first day. It made us feel like we had gone back to Oregon. Green and wildflowers everywhere. The next day when the rain broke for a few hours we were able to see just how incredible these mountains are. They were huge! Amazing.

Jadeyn enjoyed his backpack carrier and loved hiking with us. We went on Three Lakes Trail which lead us past three lakes and a waterfall. The fishing wasn't all that great. We only kept two, bummer. But I guess its okay since we don't like fish anyway and give them all away. :)

We can't believe the summer is nearing an end. Its been great!

Summer Snapshots

Here are just a few snapshots of the past few weeks. Hope you enjoy.

This is a rare moment when Jadeyn is actually holding still and quiet!

Oh no! Now I have competition on who gets to lick the spatula!

Posing on the slide on a perfect summer day!

Not what you want to see: a greasy finger coming straight for the camera!

Smelling a perfect rose!

Drive By Visit

Shelly's family stopped by overnight for a drive-by visit! They are on their way from Texas to Idaho and got to spend the night with us. It was a quick trip, arriving at 12:30pm, sleeping and leaving by 10:30 am the next morning, but it was sure fun to see them! Her kids a re growing up so fast it is amazing and they are all so much fun. Jadeyn sure enjoyed their company. He was in heaven: he just woke up and was surrounded by entertainment!

Simple Pleasures

Jadeyn cracks himself up at times. Whether it is figuring out that the nipple of his bottle can suction cup to a window or realizing that poking the fishtank makes the fish jump; he gets a kick out of it. This last week he discovered the spray bottle. He's squirt himself in the face and giggle away...every time!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY !!!

13 YEARS!
Who would have thought 13 years ago that we would be were we are today and that we would have loved every minute of it! I look back on all that we have been through, all the we have done, have accomplished and it brings back such amazing memories.

Kevin is truly the love of my life. When we met, it was pretty much a done deal. I was in a Women's Chorus concert and Kevin was in the audience on a double date. After the concert, a mutual friend introduced us. Kev was a nice guy. I remembered his smile and beautiful teeth. About a week later, he tracked me down in the library we began to get better acquainted studying pretty much every single day. You could always find us on the 2nd floor pretending to study and trying to find new and creative ways to ditch a "friend" of mine who was determined to stay in the picture. Finally, on the day before the semester's end, Kevin asked me out! Great 6 hour date: pizza, walk to the ice cream parlor, movie: Deceived with Goldie Hawn, and then of course we talked forever. During Christmas Break I thought about him quite a bit and got excited any time I saw a Wyoming license plate! When my mom asked what his last name was, all I could say is "it's some really weird name!" Christmas break ended and I hoped he would remember me. Yup he did, first phone call ended in a date and we were inseparable from then on!

I never knew someone who could make me feel so loved, confident in myself, happy, grateful, and overall joyful! We knew each other for five months before he finally asked me to marry him! Three months after that we were married: August 1st 1996.

Our lives have taken us all over. We've live in four states, traveled to 27 National Parks, about 12 Major Amusement Parks all over the country, adopted two wonderful stray cats!, I've held 6 mostly fun jobs, Kevin has worked in 3 different practices, bought a home, bought and remodeled an optometry practice, loved life, read books together, cooked too many desserts to count, hiked hundreds of miles, caught at least 1,000 fish! (Kev would say more of course), oh yes, and had the most adorable little boy you could ever imagine! I think you could say that our lives are full and we couldn't be happier.

Thank you Kevin for 13 wonderful years! I LOVE YOU!
Rebecca
