Jadeyn's First 12 Weeks

The first 12 weeks of Jadeyn's life have sure been eventful for us and we are ever amazed at the changes he has gone through. Each week was filled with new milestones and little details that just brought him closer into our hearts. We sure love this little squirt!

Family is Wonderful!
Both of our extended families are so happy for us and love Jadeyn so much. They have both been a huge support for us and have made many trips out to see their new little guy. Thank you so much for all the phone calls, and the nights holding him to allow us to get some sleep. We know that our little guys is well loved.

Birthday Celebration for Jadeyn and Kevin at the Zoo!
For Jadeyn's one month birthday we continued Kevin's family tradition of going to the Zoo. It also happened to coincide with Kevin's birthday as well. So four weeks old and his first big outing. We dressed him up in his 'safari' outfit and went out into the wild. As you can imagine, he didn't see much, but we sure had fun. And he was an adorable, perfect little guy the whole trip! Kevin got to see his favorite unusual animal, the Okapi, and we got a private dance by a peacock right beside us!

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park 2008
We decided that we need to train this little guy right and get him used to the outdoors from the beginning. It wasn't too hard. He loves it!! We noticed from his very first week when he was fussy that he would calm down every time we took him outside. The park was great. We strollered him around a few lakes (carrying the stroller only a few times over the snow drifts) and simply enjoyed the crisp air. This picture was taken at one of our favorite places in the park. We had an excellent photo of just the two of us at this spot from last summer. We had to redo it this year and now its perfect!

Bath Time!!!

Bath Time!
We knew that we were going to have an active baby when we realized that he NEVER stopped moving inside me! It's true, he hasn't stopped kicking and squirming since he was born either. Bath time is no exception. He loves his bath and has managed to get both Kevin and I quite wet each bath. You have to admit, there isn't much else cuter than a little squirt in his first bath!

Mesmerized By Mickey

Mesmerized By Mickey
Jadeyn's favorite toy by far has been an adorable wind-up Mickey Mouse given to him by his Aunt Melanie. By 1 1/2 weeks he would stare at Mickey's face for minutes on end, fascinated! We were amazed that he could keep his attention that long. Its a good thing he likes Mickey because he is on all the walls of his room!

Jadeyn's Big Brothers

Jadeyn has fast become a part of our family. Dozer and Newt both accepted him as a "little brother" immediately, which was a shock to us. We knew that Newt would be curious but not be bothered by Jadeyn at all since he is so happy go lucky. We thought that Dozer would disappear for weeks in the basement. Instead, he was right there with us even when Jadeyn was crying! But we figure once Jadeyn outweighs them both, then he'll be able to start grabbing at them. They may not like him so much then! Until then, we're a happy family!

Welcome to Jadeyn

Jadeyn Alexander
Born: 4/18/2008
Time: 4:20pm
Weight: 7 lbs 8oz
Length: 21 inches

Jadeyn Alexander came into the world on April 18, 2008. What an amazing experience! We arrived at the hospital at 6:45am right on schedule for a planned inducing. However, when we got there, I was already well on my way to labor. I won't share all the details, but at 4:20pm, our little guy came out and was happy as could be. Right from the start he stared straight at us and listened to our voices. Delivery was quite honestly much easier than I expected. I can thank modern drugs for that!! Everyone loves their baby and thinks they are the most amazing of all babies, but this little guy has had such an intelligent gaze about him right from the start. He will look right at you, focused and ready for whatever comes next. We are so happy to welcome him into our lives!
