Spring has Sprung with Baby Robins

So sweet!  We found a robin nest in in our back yard at the perfect height to just peek in every day to check on the four sweet little babies.  Not too smart on the mama's part, but it sure was fun to watch them!  We were shocked at how fast they grew and how busy they kept both of their parents.  The nest wasn't big enough for both parents and the babies and we watched them take turns finding worms and bugs and trading off tending to them.  We had no idea we had so many juicy goodies available in our grass!  I lost a bit of sleep worrying about them when we had some of our famous Colorado spring windstorms.  And during one of the complete downpours, I watched the mama huddle over the nest, gently holding her wings spread out to protect the little ones.
One fell out of the nest and we gloved up, and carried him to a nice cozy box under the tree.  He wouldn't have it, and hopped clear across the yard to make a new home for himself.  About two days later, the other three joined him and then we got to watch the next stage of their lives.  The hopped along and followed their parents around the yard and stuck around for about two more weeks.  I have seen them a few times since then, and they are happy and well!
