Wicked!!!

Happy Retirement to Gordon Cottrell
42 years of teaching

To celebrate Kevin's dad's retirement, we invited him to spend a few days with us and taking him out on the town in Denver.  Melanie's family joined us, and Shawn's family was able to come for a bit of it too!

Denver Nature and Science Museum
We sure enjoyed wandering through the museum and participating in a lot of the hands on exhibits.  I think one of the favorites among the kids and adults as well was the section on the human body.  Mind control was a hit pitting us against each other to see who could move the little ball across the field first.

Denver Botanical Gardens
Beautiful flowers and trees surrounding us everywhere!  Lovely.

Wicked
I think this has been on our bucket list for awhile now and we were so excited to finally be able to enjoy it!  All us adults got decked out for a night on the town and left the kids under the watchful eye of Kaylee with pizza and a movie.  They weren't complaining at all about being left behind!
Dinner at Fugo de Chao a Brazilian all you can eat place that was quite top of the line.  We enjoyed 15 differently prepared meats and tons of vegetables and salads.  What a treat!

As we entered the Wicked theatre, it felt as if there were electricity in the air; we were so excited.  The orchestra was tuning up, lights dimmed and the place was packed!  Our seats were on the second row so we didn't miss a single speck of the show!  Curtains up and the show began!!
Wow!  What a fun production.  Les Miserables is all about the emotion, Phantom of the Opera is all about the grandeur, Wicked was all about the humor.  Before the show, I really only knew two of the main songs and I was wondering is I'd really be able to appreciate it all without knowing every word to every song.  I was so glad to have been able to see is completely fresh without knowing what to expect.  It was really fun to look over at Kevin's dad and see him just beaming and loving it too!
Pretty amazing and fun experience!
